Campaign for Murder, Book 20
Town nemesis Myrna Lewis is backing a new campaign to consolidate the towns of Juliet and Naomi into one municipality. She’s supporting Ron Bandy as the Independent mayoral candidate to achieve her goals. Not only is Bandy a well-known celebrity, but he has a personal vendetta against current Police Chief Brash deCordova.
If elected, Bandy’s first order of business will be to replace the chief with someone of his liking. With Myrna’s financial backing, he’ll first have to defeat the five candidates vying to govern their prospective towns. His odds improve when one candidate suddenly drops out of the race, one faces new scrutiny, and one—gulp—is murdered.
The prime suspect is Myrna, and her husband wants to hire In a Pinch to prove her innocence.
Now, Madison faces two dilemmas. One, it could pit her against her husband, the very police chief who is in charge of the case. And two, it’s Myrna. There’s no love lost between the obnoxious woman and the deCordova/Cessna families.
Things get stickier when a big tech company wants to build a huge data center in The Sister’s backyard. Is Myrna profiting from the venture? As much as Madison wants to blame Myrna for it all, she’s simply not convinced she’s guilty.
